The Charcoal Burner Screen is used in order to further protect your Coal Burner. Coal Burners can very easily fail if they become too hot, this can happen when your coals are being lit directly off the Heater element; once they become fully lit they will then transfer additional heat onto the coil... causing it to trip and fail.
However using this screen will reduce the chance of this happening by simply allowing you to put your coals an inch higher than the heater coil and not directly on it.
Simply place the screen on top of the heater coil.
